Environmental Scientist

While considering how to publish Vultures, I noticed a clear link between my writing and my interest in sustainable living. I realized I wanted my work to reflect the values I care about, so I decided to pursue an eco-friendly way of publishing the book.

From the spring, when I finished the manuscript of Vultures, until the end of summer, I devoted myself to experimenting with environmentally responsible publishing. Through research, I tried to understand what sustainable publishing really means in practice, developed criteria to evaluate it, and explored eco-friendly options across the whole process—paper, printing technology, ink, and binding.

One thing became clear to me: truly sustainable publishing requires both forward-looking technology and the skills of experienced craftspeople.

Because of cost and efficiency, many of the methods are still not widely used and remain unfamiliar to most people. Wanting to share what I learned, I documented the entire journey in a piece titled Greener Books.
